I spoke to a family member who had seen a post from a "friend" on Facebook. This friend is someone this family member knows "in person" for many years. Said friend also apparently has a level of security clearance. This friend had posted something regarding sheriff officers in Texas being beheaded with regularity and that the news is being suppressed. Okay, so with EVERYTHING going on at the border, we are supposed to believe that (1) sheriff officers are being serially beheaded, (2) this friend took the photo(s) shown in this post that family member saw, (3) these beheadings are being suppressed in the media. Deaths of cops on duty make at the minimum local news. Usually the news gets picked up regionally. Deaths of multiple officers in this fashion would absolutely make national news. The Police Benevolent Societies and Fraternal Order of Police would be out in front of cameras for press releases and briefings. The FBI would be getting involved because a scenario like this would be classified as a coordinated attack on law enforcement and therefore a federal jurisdiction case. The Governor Abbott, President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Attorney General Garland would all be making statements and fielding questions.
There was a beheading in Texas, in 2017, of a child, by a woman under the influence of alcohol and cannabis (and more than likely suffering a psychotic episode). She was convicted in March 2020. The article can be found here.
The border crisis and America's treaty obligations and how we've taken less than 1/10 of the refugees and asylum seekers compared to Columbia. Yes, there has been a surge in migration since Biden took office. The Biden team should have predicted this surge because of how obvious the pending crisis has been. FEMA has now gotten involved in processing the asylum seekers.
Seeking Asylum or Refugee status is LEGAL. You go to a port of entry to a nation, also known as a border, and tell the officials there, you are seeking asylum/refugee status. The United States is OBLIGATED BY INTERNATIONAL TREATY to accept asylum seekers and refugees with care, decency, and humanity.
"Last year's crops were all left to rot/were buried in the fields." Yes. Because those large commercial operations rely on migrant workers. The border was closed. Many of those that snuck in were detained in concentration camp conditions with children being ripped from their parents' arms. And yes, some successfully made it to their seasonal jobs.
"It's women and children at the border this time instead of men holding the hands of kids." The demographic make-up of refugees has been consistent. The difference you're seeing is where the cameras are pointed and how those there are framing the narrative. The same people decrying the conditions at the border now, are the same ones who were all for family separation, forced sterilization, covering up ICE abuse of children, voting and arguing against children's basic needs like toothbrushes, mattresses, et cetera, referring to migrants as terrorists.
I really fucking hate corporate and theological media outlets.
