Melania's Nude Modeling

It is common knowledge former First Lady Melania Trump was a model, including nude modeling. There are a variety of media outlets across the political spectrum shaming her for this. Can you fucking stop? There is NOTHING wrong with grown adults modeling including in the nude. Think about the message we are telling women: Hey you’re super beautiful and you can have an awesome career as a model, but we’re also going to completely diminish you as a person if you take nude shoots. We don’t care if you speak 5 languages, we’re going to malign you and say you didn’t qualify for the Einstein Citizenship path. Are you freaking kidding me with this puritanical patriarchal slut shaming bullshit?

Don’t take this as me being a fan of Melania. I think she’s a horrible person in desperate need of intensive therapy. There are things we can credibly criticize her for (the “I don’t really care do you” jacket as an example). But shaming her for being a model is not it.

Contrary to Hollywood tropes, models are intelligent and hard working professionals who micromanage every facet of their lives to stay relevant and marketable for as long as possible. This includes managing their contracts and finances, career trajectory into other industries, etc. Not the path Melania took in her career, but that will be covered in another post about the modeling industry and its toxic, abusive, predatory, grooming history with credible ties to human trafficking.

In the meantime, stop shaming women and femme presenting people from having lucrative careers in modeling and adult entertainment in an end-stage capitalist hellscape of a society.
