Today the country learned Bob Woodward, the long time lion of a journalist best known for his work with Carl Bernstein on breaking the Watergate Scandal for the Washington Post, had interviewed Donald Trump 17-18 times as far back as February 7, 2020. Trump is on tape acknowledging how Covid-19 is airborne, highly infectious, with a 5% mortality rate instead of the earlier reported 2%. We learned this information in September, when we're closing in on 200,000 deaths and many millions infected.
Bob Woodward had the means and responsibility to inform the public of this information back in February. Many supposedly intelligent people have stated there were valid reasons for sitting on the information instead of releasing it and releasing back then would not have made any difference. That take is unequivocally bullshit. Airing those tapes on EVERY major network in the country would have forced action that would have saved lives. During the same time frame Trump had these interviews with Woodward, he was holding rallies in enclosed spaces, he was actively downplaying the risks that he ACKNOWLEDGED ON TAPE to the American public. Tens of thousands of lives could have been saved by releasing the information and audio back then. It would have given the public health officials, disability activists, and other government officials the information and backing they needed to force the administration to act. Trump would not have gotten away with protecting his Wall Street buddies and the stock markets instead of the American people. Because there would be no disputing TRUMP'S OWN VOICE telling a renowned journalist how dangerous this virus is. There would have been no room for Hannity, Ingraham, Pirro, et al to spin their audience into believing this was liberal culture war issue.
Instead, Woodward sat on the information. Including Trump's admission he always intended to downplay it to protect the markets. The reasons for sitting on this information likely included the following: Access to further interviews, feeder material to promote the book, fall - less than 60 days until the election - bombshell, book sales. NONE of these reasons are acceptable for withholding information resulting in close to 200K deaths, millions of infections, millions with life long disabilities as a result of the infection, countless dead from complications of the virus AFTER "recovery."
Failing to alert the public of this catastrophic health crisis and abetting Trump's genocide - because that is what this is - is a crime against humanity and beyond an ethical failure. Bob Woodward should be ashamed and embarrassed.
